Hello everyone! Thank you for visiting the Queen for a Day Miami website! My name is Stefanie Pérez, and I am the director of the Miami Chapter. I am looking forward to learning about your interest in Queen for a Day! This is such a wonderful cause - there is nothing better than to bring a smile to a child who is suffering with cancer.
As most of you know I am currently living in Chicago, and will be taking over the Chapter here in the Windy City! I am very excited to work closely with the local "queens" and former director Jo-El.
We have also appointed a new director in Miami! She formerly ran the QFAD chapter in Dallas! She is wonderful, sweet, and most of all has a big heart! We are so happy she is on board in Miami, I am sure she will do a fantastic job! I will post more information mid September regarding her details, should you want to reach out to her.
This year has been amazing for QFAD Miami. We have received such generous donations to help our cause, chapter, and most of all the kids! I want to especially thank Rachlin Corporation, and InSource who have graciously raised money for our local chapter. We are extremely grateful to the people in organizations such as these who care about local non profits in the community. You are the reason that chapters like us are able to stay alive and active. Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated by all of us at Queen for a Day.
As you may have noticed we have a name change! We are excited to announce the For a Day Foundation. Queen for a Day is now a program within the For a Day Foundation. We also offer the Hero For a Day program along with a few other "For a Day" programs that will be rolled out in the year to come.
As most of you know, I started this chapter in honor of my grandmother who suffered with lung cancer for 4 years. Sadly, she lost her battle in April 2009. I know she was present at every successful event we had this last year. The kids smiles were confirmation she was there in spirit. She gave me the strength to keep going and I know she is watching over us. My grandmother, Ofelia, is greatly missed.
Please read about the event we had in May, honoring her life, at Miami Children's Hospital on our events tab. It was another great success full of smiling kids and happy parents.

Queen for a Day is a 501(C)3 organization raising the self-esteem and self-confidence of pediatric cancer patients by hosting parties for kids to be kids. We pamper girls with make-overs, manicures, and a coronation ceremony where each girl is crowned as a champion over her illness with a tiara donated by a pageant titleholder. We treat boys with hero-themed gifts, reinforcing bravery and courage through images of police officers and firefighters.
